Goal: Finalize all necessary documentation, incorporating community feedback, and ensuring compliance with municipal requirements before submission to the municipality
Week 1-4: Finalize the UIP Business Plan based on community feedback
After gathering input from property owners during the consultation phase in May, the Steering Committee will refine and finalize the Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) Business Plan to reflect the priorities and concerns raised by the community.
Key tasks during this period include:
- Incorporating feedback from property owners – Adjusting proposed services, levy structures, or governance models based on community discussions and concerns.
- Ensuring financial viability – Reviewing the budget to confirm that projected costs align with the anticipated revenue from the additional levy.
- Legal and policy compliance check – Conducting a final legal review to ensure that the plan aligns with the Municipal Property Rates Act and eThekwini’s Special Rating Area (SRA) Policy.
- Finalizing governance structures – Defining the management framework, including details about the Non-Profit Company (NPC) that will administer the UIP, its board of directors, and its financial accountability mechanisms.
The goal is to have a fully developed, clear, and detailed business plan ready to be presented to the broader community and submitted to the municipality.
